Under New York City's Earned Safe and Sick Time Act every employee - dancers on the payroll, bartenders, door staff, part-timers - earns one hour of safe and sick time for every 30 hours worked in the city, from the first day. Since the 2023 rules there is no waiting period and no minimum of hours to be covered.
Employer size is every employee nationwide - full-time, part-time, on leave - at the most there have been at once this calendar year. 100 or more: up to 56 paid hours a year. 5 to 99: 40 paid hours. 4 or fewer: 40 hours, paid only if net income is over $1 million. A rise applies from that day; a drop does not reduce anything until next year. Documentation may be asked for only after more than three consecutive workdays out. Every pay period each worker is told what they accrued, used and have left.
