Bowery NYC Unincorporated Business Tax Worksheet
For creators and performers working in New York City as sole proprietors or one-person LLCs

Over $95,000, the City wants a return.

Bowery tests your gross business income against the $95,000 line, works the NYC-202 - allowance, exemption, 4% tax and the business tax credit that often cancels it - and will not call a return filed without a confirmation number.

Opens in this browser with an invented creator already in it. No account, no email address, nothing installed. Never holds a tax return, an NYC e-Services login, a bank login or a Social Security number.

The problem

File it, or pay a tax the credit would have cancelled.

New York City's Unincorporated Business Tax reaches a sole proprietor or one-member LLC once gross business income tops $95,000. Many creators never file. Others pay 4% without taking the credit that wipes out a tax of $3,400 or less.

$95,000

of gross business income, wherever earned, and an NYC-202 must be filed.

NYC Department of Finance →
4%

of City business income after the owner's allowance and the $5,000 exemption.

NYC Department of Finance →
$3,400

or less of tax, and the business tax credit takes all of it.

NYC Department of Finance →

Will not call a return filed, or skipped, on your say-so.

Not a reminder. Filed refuses without the year's incomes, a date after the year, or a confirmation number - and refuses a year under $95,000 because there is nothing to file. Not required refuses a year over $95,000. Nothing is deleted. There is no override.

How it works

Two numbers, one worksheet

Put in the year

Gross business income everywhere, and the income allocated to the City.

Read the worksheet

Allowance, exemption, 4%, credit - and what is actually owed.

File and record

File the NYC-202, then record the confirmation number here.

What it will never do

It keeps the worksheet. Never the login.

Bowery holds incomes, dates and confirmation numbers, nothing more.

No NYC e-Services login. You file and pay with the Department of Finance yourself.
It files and pays nothing. It works the numbers out and keeps the record.
No Social Security numbers.None is needed for the arithmetic.
It is not tax advice.A preparer files the return.

Questions

The ones we actually get asked

I have a one-person LLC. Does this apply?

Yes. The City treats a single-member LLC owned by an individual as a sole proprietorship for this tax.

I made $100,000 but owe nothing. Do I still file?

Yes. Over $95,000 of gross business income the return is due even when the credit cancels the tax.

What is the business tax credit?

All of a tax of $3,400 or less, none at $5,400 or more, and a sliding share between.

Is this tax advice?

No. It is the worksheet, the record and the gates.

What do I actually get when I pay?

The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, on your screen as soon as the payment confirms: the checkout brings you back to our thank-you page, you type your business name and the key appears. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.

The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.

Open the demo before April 15

An invented creator's $3,900 tax comes down to $975 with the credit - and the return is still unfiled.
