Cutoff Dram Shop Defence Log
For clubs and venues that serve alcohol

You cut him off at midnight. Can you prove it?

Cutoff keeps every cut-off with the signs your staff saw and what they did, every service by a nameless tag with the ID check for anyone who looks young - and refuses another drink to a tag cut off tonight.

Opens in this browser with an invented club already in it. No account, no email address, nothing installed. Never holds a patron's name, an ID scan or a card number.

The problem

The lawsuit comes a year later.

In 42 states and DC a bar can be sued for harm done by a patron it served while visibly intoxicated - or served underage. The defence is a record made at the time, and most clubs do not have one.

42 states

and DC let a bar be sued over a patron it served.

served - no proof of intoxication needed.

Will not pour for a tag that was cut off.

Not a reminder. Record the service refuses a tag cut off tonight and a young-looking guest whose ID was not checked. A cut-off is refused without the signs seen, what was done and who made the call. Names are refused. Nothing is deleted. There is no override.

How it works

Tag, serve, cut off

Tag the guest

A table, a seat, a wristband - never a name.

Record the service

With the ID check for anyone who looks young.

Record the cut-off

The signs seen and what was done. Nothing more for that tag tonight.

What it will never do

It keeps the night. Never the guest.

Cutoff holds tags, times and what staff saw, nothing more.

No patron names.A tag is enough to defend you.
No ID scans.Only that the ID was checked.
No card numbers. It never touches a payment.
It is not legal advice.Your insurer and lawyer are the reference.

Questions

The ones we actually get asked

Why tags and not names?

The defence is what your staff saw and did, not who the guest was. A tag keeps it without holding anyone's identity.

Our state has no dram-shop law.

Your licence is still at stake for serving the visibly intoxicated or a minor. The same record defends it.

Does staff training help?

Following your state's training rules is a recognised defence. Barcard and Bouncer keep those records.

Is this legal advice?

No. It is the record and the gates.

What do I actually get when I pay?

The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, on your screen as soon as the payment confirms: the checkout brings you back to our thank-you page, you type your business name and the key appears. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.

The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.
