Lantern walks a performer through California's Safe at Home - who can enrol, the four years it lasts, the seven days to report a move - and keeps a checklist of every place the substitute address must replace the real one, refusing the places it cannot go. It never holds an address of any kind.
Opens in this browser with an invented checklist already in it. No account, no email address, nothing installed. Never holds a real address, the substitute address or the authorization number.
The problem
Safe at Home gives a substitute address - but the real one is already on the voter roll, the DMV, a deed, the LLC filing, the bank, the platform that pays you. Some must accept the substitute, some need not, and some can never take it.
a Safe at Home certification lasts, with a renewal near the end.
California Secretary of State →to tell the program in writing of a move or a name change - or it can be cancelled.
California Secretary of State →mail forwarding and service of process for victims of stalking and violence who live in California.
California Secretary of State →Not a reminder. The substitute address is refused as a business's street address, on a vital-records certificate, or for parcels. Enrolment is refused outside the program's reasons or without California residence. A step before enrolment is refused. Nothing is deleted.
How it works
In person, with a counselor at an enrolling agency.
Every agency, record and account your address is on.
And report any move within seven days.
What it will never do
Lantern holds dates and the names of places, nothing more.
Pricing
For one person.
The checklist and the clock.
Monthly. Your bank statement says Lantern Software. Your licence key is on your screen as soon as the payment confirms.
Pay by card through Square, on Square’s own checkout page — we never see or store your card number. Or pay with bitcoin through our own bitcoin server. Either way you come back here, type your business name, and your licence key is on the screen — no email, no waiting on us.
Questions
If you live in California and have been stalked or suffered domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking or abuse - in person, through an enrolling agency's counselor.
No - private businesses are not required to. State and local agencies and courts are.
As its mailing address, yes. Not as its street address - use a mailbox with a suite number.
No. It is the dates and the checklist.
The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, on your screen as soon as the payment confirms: the checkout brings you back to our thank-you page, you type your business name and the key appears. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.
The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.
An invented performer is part of the way through replacing their address - with no address anywhere in it.
