Severn marks every field that reveals a member's sex life or sexual orientation, ties each one to the service the member asked for that cannot work without it, and refuses any sale of sensitive data - which Maryland bans even with consent.
Opens in this browser with an invented site's field file already in it. No account, no email address, nothing installed. It describes fields and never holds any data.
The problem
Maryland's Online Data Privacy Act applies at 35,000 Maryland consumers. Sensitive data - on an adult site, a viewing history or favourites list - may be collected only when strictly necessary for a service the person asked for. Its sale is banned outright.
Not a reminder. A sensitive field is refused if it is sold, without the service the member asked for, with advertising or marketing as the reason, or without why the service cannot work without it. Fields are retired, never erased.
How it works
Maryland consumers, and revenue from selling data.
And mark the ones that reveal a sex life or orientation.
The service asked for, and why it needs it - or retire it.
What it will never do
Severn holds the field file, nothing more.
Pricing
For one site.
The sensitive-data file, kept current.
Monthly. Your bank statement says Severn Software. Your licence key is on your screen as soon as the payment confirms.
Pay by card through Square, on Square’s own checkout page — we never see or store your card number. Or pay with bitcoin through our own bitcoin server. Either way you come back here, type your business name, and your licence key is on the screen — no email, no waiting on us.
Questions
Not in Maryland. Sensitive data is collected only when strictly necessary for a service the person asked for.
No. Maryland bans the sale of sensitive data, with or without consent.
Anything that reveals a member's sex life or sexual orientation - viewing history, favourites, chosen categories.
No. It is the file and the record.
The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, on your screen as soon as the payment confirms: the checkout brings you back to our thank-you page, you type your business name and the key appears. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.
The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.
An invented membership site has its field file in - mark a sensitive field sold and see it refused.
