Soulard Kansas City & St. Louis Earnings Tax
For creators and performers living or working in Kansas City or St. Louis

Two cities. One percent each. Separate returns.

Soulard logs where each gig was, works out what Kansas City and St. Louis each tax on your profit - all of it where you live, the share earned there where you don't - and keeps every city return from going in short.

Opens in this browser with an invented creator already in it. No account, no email address, nothing installed. Never holds a Social Security number, a tax account login or a bank account.

The problem

Missouri's return is not the end of it.

Kansas City and St. Louis each levy a 1% earnings tax on self-employment profit, filed on a city return of its own. Residents pay on everything; nonresidents on what they earned in the city. Gigs in both cities and on the road mean two returns to work out every April 15.

1%

in each city, renewed by voters in April 2026, on self-employment income too.

countrytaxcalc →
April 15

Kansas City's RD-108 profits return is due - and filed even in a loss year.

City of Kansas City →
E-234

St. Louis's return for the self-employed, type E-2 - an extension only with 100% of the tax.

St. Louis Collector of Revenue →

Will not let a city return go in short.

Not a reminder. A gig is refused before it is played or in a year already filed. A return is refused before the year is over, twice to one city, to a city you neither live in nor earned in, or paid short of the 1% due - and one filed late says so. Nothing is deleted.

How it works

Log, work it out, file

Log each gig

The date, the city and what it paid.

Work it out

Your Schedule C profit, all of it or the city's share.

File each city

What it will never do

It keeps the figures. Never the login.

Soulard holds gigs and returns, nothing more.

No Social Security numbers. The cities already have them.
No tax account logins. You file on each city's own site.
No bank accounts.It pays nobody.
It is not tax or legal advice. Each city's revenue division is the reference.

Questions

The ones we actually get asked

I live outside Kansas City but perform there. Do I owe it?

On the share of your profit earned there. Soulard works it out from the gross of your gigs in the city.

I had a loss this year.

Nothing is owed on a loss - but Kansas City still wants the return filed.

What if the rate changes?

Put in the new one with its source.

Is this tax advice?

No. It is the arithmetic and the record.

What do I actually get when I pay?

The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, on your screen as soon as the payment confirms: the checkout brings you back to our thank-you page, you type your business name and the key appears. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.

The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.

Open the demo and file last year

An invented Kansas City creator has two years of gigs logged - last year is waiting to be filed to both cities.
