Mesilla New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax
For creators and performers based in New Mexico

New Mexico taxes the fee. Not the profit.

Mesilla works out New Mexico's gross receipts tax on your service income at each location's combined rate, keeps every return on its 25th - even the ones with nothing to report - and shows what late costs before it costs it.

Opens in this browser with an invented performer already in it. No account, no email address, nothing installed. Never holds a Social Security number, a tax account login or a bank account.

The problem

Services are taxable here.

New Mexico's gross receipts tax reaches services as well as goods, and it is on you, the seller - at the state's 4.875% plus a local rate that changes twice a year. A return is due every period, even with nothing to report.

4.875%

New Mexico's 2026 state rate, before the local rate - combined 5.25% to 9.425%.

Will not let a return go in short.

Not a reminder. A location's rate is refused below the state's or without a source. A frequency your tax does not allow is refused. A return is refused before its period ends, twice, without the gross receipts, or paid short of the tax and any late cost. Nothing is deleted.

Questions

The ones we actually get asked

I perform for a fee. Is that taxable?

New Mexico's gross receipts tax applies to services as well as goods, and it is on the seller - so yes, as a rule.

I earned nothing this quarter.

File anyway, with zeros. Not filing costs at least $5 even when no tax is due.

What is my rate?

The state's 4.875% plus your location's - put it in from the Department's current schedule. It changes in January and July.

Is this tax advice?

No. It is the arithmetic and the record.

What do I actually get when I pay?

The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, on your screen as soon as the payment confirms: the checkout brings you back to our thank-you page, you type your business name and the key appears. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.

The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.
