Stubwise California Wage Statement Check
For California clubs that employ dancers and staff

Nine items on every stub. Miss one, every payday.

Stubwise checks each pay stub for the nine items California requires and that the numbers add up, before it is issued - and tracks any error found afterward to its corrected statement.

Opens in this browser with an invented club already in it. No account, no email address, nothing installed. Never holds a Social Security number - not even the last four - or a bank account.

The problem

A template error repeats every pay period.

Labor Code 226 requires nine items on every wage statement. One missing item is $50 per employee, then $100 every pay period after, up to $4,000 each - and PAGA penalties on top.

9 items

required on every California wage statement.

Labor Code 226 →
$4,000

the cap per employee - $50 the first period, $100 every one after.

Labor Code 226(e) →
PAGA

penalties per pay period on top of the statute's own.

Labor Code 2699 →

Will not issue a stub that is short an item.

Not a reminder. Issue the stub refuses a gross that is not hours times rates, a net that is not gross minus deductions, a stub without the last four or an ID, an hourly stub without its rates, a piece-rate stub without units, a missing employer address and no sick leave shown. There is no override.

How it works

Set up, enter, issue

Set the employer

Your legal name and address, exactly as item 8 needs them.

Enter the stub

Issue or fix

It goes out only complete; errors found later are tracked to the fix.

What it will never do

It checks the stub. It keeps no identity.

Stubwise holds figures and dates, nothing more.

No Social Security numbers. Not even the last four - only that the stub shows them.
No bank accounts.It pays nobody.
No customer names. It is about your payroll.
It is not legal advice.PAGA cures are a question for counsel.

Questions

The ones we actually get asked

We use a payroll service. Do we need this?

Services print what they are given. Stubwise checks the stub before it goes out - and it is your name on item 8, not theirs.

Our dancers are paid by the dance.

That is a piece rate. The stub shows the units and the rate, and Stubwise will not issue it without them.

Does it keep Social Security numbers?

No. It checks the box that the stub shows the last four or an ID; it never stores them.

Is this legal advice?

No. It is the record and the gates.

What do I actually get when I pay?

The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, on your screen as soon as the payment confirms: the checkout brings you back to our thank-you page, you type your business name and the key appears. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.

The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.
