Westleave Oregon & Colorado Paid Leave Opt-In
For self-employed performers and creators in Oregon or Colorado

Paid leave for the self-employed. Is it worth it?

Westleave works out your state's premium on your earnings, the weekly benefit from your best quarters and the leave it would take to come out ahead - then keeps every quarter's report for the three years you commit to.

Opens in this browser with an invented dancer already in it. No account, no email address, nothing installed. Never holds a Social Security number, a medical record or a bank account.

The problem

Three years is a long time to guess.

Oregon Paid Leave and Colorado FAMLI both let the self-employed opt in for an initial three years, paying a share of the premium on their own earnings. Whether it pays off depends on your earnings and the leave you expect.

0.88%

Colorado's 2026 premium, split half and half.

twelve of fifteen state programs, Oregon and Colorado among them, let the self-employed join.

Center for American Progress →

Will not let a quarter come up short.

Not a reminder. Opting in needs the three years acknowledged; opting out before them is refused. A quarter's report is refused twice, before it is over, or with less premium than was due. Rates are refused without a source. Nothing is deleted.

Questions

The ones we actually get asked

I dance at clubs as an independent contractor. Can I opt in?

Both Oregon and Colorado let self-employed people opt in. Westleave works out what it costs and pays on your own earnings.

What if the rates change?

They change every year. Pick your state for the 2026 figures, or put in the new ones with their source.

Can I leave after a year?

No - the first commitment is three years. Westleave will not record leaving sooner.

Is this tax advice?

No. It is the arithmetic and the record.

What do I actually get when I pay?

The demo on this page is the whole program, running on invented records. Paying gets you a licence key — one line of text, on your screen as soon as the payment confirms: the checkout brings you back to our thank-you page, you type your business name and the key appears. Paste it into the program and from then on it keeps your own records. Until then, nothing you type into it is kept.

The key is checked inside the page, on your own machine. It never calls us, so there is still no account and nothing about your business goes anywhere. If you ever stop paying, your records stay exactly where they are, read-only, and Export still hands you every one of them.
